    A collection of her essays, The Lyre in the Pawnshop: Essays on Literature and Survival (), won the Non-Fiction Award in the Western Australian Premier's Book Awards. In she won both the Patrick White Award and the FAW Christopher Brennan Award. A pawn shop (also called a pawnshop or pawnbroker) is a shop or business who loans money to people who bring in valuable items which they leave with the pawnbroker. Examples of items that a person may leave are jewellery, gold, watches, cameras, musical instruments, televisions or computers. The valuables that people leave are called the "collateral".The person can get their valuable item back.

    Her first volume of verse, Isaac Babel’s Fiddle () was followed by her ‘breakthrough’ work Kaddish and Other Poems (), containing reflections on the life of her father; other works include collections of short stories, Hostages () and essays, The Lyre in the Pawnshop (). Zwicky won the Western Australia Premier’s Book.   Fay Zwicky has published eight books of poetry, the most recent of which is Picnic (Giramondo, ). She has also edited several anthologies of Australian poetry, published a book of short stories, Hostages (FACP, ) and a collection of critical essays, The Lyre in the Pawnshop (UWAP, ). Her awards include the NSW Premier's Award, the WA Premier's Award, the Patrick .

He nearly destroys everything in the shop and himself. He helps capture a burglar. He destroys a client's clock while examining it in detail/10(K).
