INTRODUCTION. The Problem of Preservation.—As a rule the first subject to which the young naturalist turns his attention is the most interesting one within his reach, and that subject is undoubtedly found in bird-life; particularly that portion of it which concerns the nests, eggs, young, and various modes of nidification, for this is really the kernel of ornithology. Birds bear their young in hard-shelled eggs which hatch after some time. Some birds, like chickens, lay eggs each day, while others (like the maleo) may go for years between laying build nests for breeding in trees, on cliffs, or on the ground. Most birds are taken care of by at least one parent until they are able to fly and get their own food.

Nests, Eggs, and Nestlings of North American Birds, Second Edition provides a thorough, species-by-species guide to the breeding biology of the birds of North America. Some breeding species are described in full, covering the birds of a vast area, from the Arctic to the southern boundary of the continental United States/5(41). A bird's egg can be obtained by a bird nest that falls out of trees while can come in three different colours: green, blue and red which represent the colours of Guthix, Saradomin and Zamorak, respectively.. These eggs can be offered to the shrine in the Woodcutting Guild to receive Prayer experience and a Bird nest with seeds as a reward.
